All instruction at Artedea-Bohemiarte School is individual, private, and tailored to the needs of each student. We teach classical painting techniques from the Renaissance to the end of the 19th century, with a singular focus on painting human skin. Students may join at any time. A portfolio is required for all programs.
The Artedea-Bohemiarte apprenticeship program is dedicated to advanced students who wish to master classical painting with a focus on rendering the human skin. You will learn Old Master techniques and art history from Leonardo da Vinci to William-Adolphe Bouguereau.
The program covers colour theory and all steps toward a finished painting: imprimatura, sketch, underpainting, colour layers, glazes, and scumbling. You will explore painting technology — pigment properties, mediums, binders, varnish — and the fat-over-lean principle for long-term stability.
For advanced students only. A portfolio of recent work is required before the first session. Students are selected based on portfolio, dedication and discipline.
Interactive online painting classes covering everything from supports and ground preparation to colour mixing, mediums, and varnishes. Techniques from the Renaissance to today. For advanced students — two images of recent work required before first session.
Send a clear image of your artwork along with your questions. Detailed suggestions and recommendations will be indicated directly on your image, accompanied by a written explanation — emailed back to you. Repeat as often as you wish.
Interactive group conferences open to up to ten participants at a time. All things artistic discussed, with a primary focus on Old Master painting techniques. Dates and times posted in advance. A rare opportunity to learn in a small, curated group setting.
Note: for some classes there is a waiting period of several months to a year. Instructions are available in English, French, Slovenian and Croatian.
