A private school in Montréal, Québec founded by Irena Korosec, offering a unique expertise in individual apprenticeship for advanced students of classical painting and drawing — painting technology and art history from the Renaissance to the end of the 19th century, with the main focus on painting human skin.
We also offer training and services in gilding and restoration of paintings and frames.
Our school firmly believes in the form of art that best expresses humanist ideals based on strong knowledge of the métier. Using the techniques of the Old Masters allows the creation of unlimited personal expression. The artists are provided with the tools to be truthful, honest and noble in their metaphysical search.
Mission: To preserve classical painting knowledge and to pass it to younger generations of painters and thus enable them to realize their artistic vision. Our training program includes drawing, colour theory, technique, technology and history of art. We also teach gilding and painting restoration.
"We teach classical painting techniques from the Renaissance to the end of the 19th century. Our centre of interest is the painting of the skin."— Irena Korosec, Founder
Artedea-Bohemiarte School has been approved by the Art Renewal Center (ARC) since October 1st, 2006 — making it the first and longest-standing ARC approved atelier in Montréal.
The ARC approval is awarded only to schools that demonstrate the highest standards of classical curriculum and instructional proficiency. It is one of the most respected certifications in the world of classical realist art education.
In 2020 our school began a creative collaboration with another School of Classical Art, Académie des beaux-arts de Montréal, ACADEM. Our common desire to offer a rich artistic environment in Montréal and internationally, to cooperate instead of compete, is hopefully setting the tone for a better future, in arts and otherwise.
Artedea-Bohemiarte School now specialises exclusively in the advanced individual apprenticeship program for traditional painting techniques by Old Masters, including gilding and restoration. We select students based on their portfolio, dedication and discipline.
Note: for some classes there is a waiting period of several months to a year. Instructions are available in English, French, Slovenian and Croatian.
